Like a clap of thunder, We Have Dozens of Titles re-forges the legacy of Gastr del Sol, plunging the listener back into the maelstrom of their too-brief period from 1993 to 1998 through a collection of studio recordings and previously unreleased live content. The music of Gastr del Sol is transformative. David Grubbs formed Gastr from the last lineup of Bastro; on Gastr del Sol's debut album, The Serpentine Similar, Grubbs, Bundy K. Brown, and John McEntire transitioned from an electric and unleashed band to an acoustic drone group. Then Jim O'Rourke joined, collaborating with Grubbs to make a series of unpredictable leaps across genres and approaches, over three LPs and two EPs that threatened the passage of musical time as we knew it in the mid-90s. We Have Dozens of Titles contains nearly an hour of previously unreleased live recordings, as well as nearly an hour of studio recordings from singles, maxis, and compilations that had never been gathered before.
