Born from the playful spirit of the talented Greg Bette, Garçon de Plage sketches a long-distance connection between Paris and California. Amour Aveugle, the singer-songwriter's second album, following the self-produced L’Ennui (2017), celebrates the budding spring and the summer to come. From the introduction, aptly named “Musique de Yacht,” the intentions of the musician from the Île-de-France are clear: to transport you on a sailboat navigating a peaceful ocean under clear skies. Greg Bette does not hide his intentions; Amour Aveugle extends the pleasure of the soft-rock west-coast albums of the late seventies, somewhere between the Doobie Brothers and the polished productions of Quincy Jones. The writing is refined, the aesthete has been raised on the pop of the Beach Boys. The playful lyrics evoke Katerine while a carefully crafted organic production summons the best of French-speaking variety from the turn of the 70s/80s (France Gall, Diane Tell, Michel Jonasz, Michel Berger). Amour Aveugle is also a human adventure, recorded between Paris, Chicago, Vitry-sur-Seine, and New York, Greg collaborated with numerous artists such as Joachim Polack and Juliette Davis from Pearl and the Oysters, Woody Goss and Joe Dart, the inimitable bassist of Vulfpeck, as well as Noé Benita, David Sultan, Oscar Siffritt, Neima Naouri… All these wonderful people contribute to making Amour Aveugle a unique pleasure in the current French scene.
