Est-ce que tu sais ?

Description

Gaëtan Roussel, legendary voice of the contemporary French scene, returns on March 19 with "Do You Know?", a strong and fascinating acoustic album of 11 tracks between pop hits and timeless songs. Includes the single "We Don't Die (All at Once)" as well as two duets with Camélia Jordana and Alain Souchon. "Souchon is fantastic, he's someone I've followed forever. I was very happy that he agreed to come and do a song with me. Camélia, I had the chance to meet her about ten years ago for a cover of Blondie. She has a fantastic and solid voice," he explains. Far from wanting to fall into the easy trap of writing about confinement, Gaëtan Roussel has nevertheless been unable to shake the little certainty that remains for his audience. His hit "You Didn't Know" reflects this well. Passionate about sports since always, the former voice of Louise Attaque has managed to put his childhood idols into music. Alain Prost, Jean-Pierre Rives, Marie-Jo Perec, Christine Aaron, Martin Fourcade, Bernard Hinault, and Bixente Lizarazu sing along on the chorus of "We Don't Die (All at Once)." Already announced several times on social media, the album should mark a true return to the roots for the artist. "For this new album, I focused on my guitar and myself," he specified to Virgin Radio. The album opens with "You Didn't Know," an epic track that thickens with every second. Not really a chorus for this piece but a leitmotif that doesn't let go until the last note of the song and questions us about certainties. A sort of contemporary musical western. "I Throw Myself at Your Neck" takes us by the hand, in complete serenity, as simply as the "Rousselian" tunes he has accustomed us to. Next come "Do You Know?" and "The Photo," an enchanting title where we have the chance to hear the crystalline voice of Camélia Jordana alongside Gaëtan Roussel. "We Don't Die (All at Once)" sets the rhythm and makes us dance tirelessly, while "The Anger" reveals itself with restraint. This masterpiece of the album competes for the top spot with another iconic song "Difficult Mornings," a text that speaks to each of us, to everyone. On "Without Sleep," Mr. Souchon joins in, much to Gaëtan Roussel's delight. A long-held dream, realized so simply, for a title with disarming naturalness. "Right Against You" reminds us of "Tell Me Again That You Love Me," a little gem in the Roussel style. "Around the World" will take us on a journey into an engaging world with the uniqueness of Gaëtan Roussel's very low voice, whispering his wishes and desires. To perfect this program, the album ends with a friendly ballad "If By Chance," which is probably not one. Great Roussel.
