GA-20 is on a good roll. A movement, a renaissance of the genre. The retro blues trio is a disciple of the blend of traditional blues and rock’n’roll with a touch of country. The band, consisting of guitarist Stubbs, guitarist/singer Pat Faherty, and drummer Tim Carman, has been at the forefront of the revival of traditional blues since its formation in 2018. It’s no surprise that they are at the top of the Billboard Blues Chart. From the beginning, they have focused on the history of blues, melodies, and creating an atmosphere. Country, soul, and funk music have seen massive revivals recently, but so far traditional blues hasn’t had much of a chance. With the release of their new album Crackdown and a busy tour schedule, GA-20 hopes to contribute to this change! Crackdown is their third album. The band creates a raw and gritty blues sound that is both traditional and modern. Drawing on their previous albums (Lonely Soul, 2019 and Try It...You Might Like It! GA-20 Does Hound Dog Taylor, 2021), GA-20 finds inspiration at the genre's borders, where early electric blues first converged with country and rock’n’roll. The nine original songs on the album include “Dry Run,” with a Louisiana flavor, the dirty and stripped-down “Easy On The Eyes,” and the melodic “Fairweather Friend,” with garage accents. With electric performances, brevity, and a punk energy reminiscent of the Ramones, Crackdown is a loud and fun album, filled with instantly memorable and well-crafted songs.
