If there is a band that has quietly dominated French post-punk for nearly a decade, it is Frustration. Far from the spotlight and through hundreds of concerts around the world, the band has become one of the blockbusters of the genre. Today, Born Bad, their equally iconic label, offers them a remix album that will make electronic music fans drool. The track "Dying Cities," from their latest album Uncivilized, has been reworked no less than 5 times on this record: first by Kap Bambino, who are not here to mess around, and Arnaud Rebotini, who spices it up with an analog techno twist. Both versions share the martial rhythm of the original track: the kick on the 4, the snare on the 2 and 4, the fundamental structure of dance music. Blackmail will take a more tribal approach: the haunting beat offers a more hypnotic interpretation that will leave a particularly memorable impression on the listener. Dick Voodoo's remix aims to be more kraut, more experimental. The EP concludes with a very "prog" bonus remix by DJ Pone and Aerosteak.
