A Journey to the Heart of German Baroque with the Freiburger Barockorchester!For over fifteen years, the Freiburger Barockorchester has been crisscrossing Germany, from Freiburg to Berlin. While the journey today takes just a few hours, it was quite different in the 18th century: what music accompanied travelers along these roads back then? In this new live-recorded album, the FBO recreates this musical journey, stopping in Rastatt, Stuttgart, and Eisenach. Alongside the essential Telemann and Johann Sebastian Bach — with a double concerto for flute and violin and the second Brandenburg Concerto — we discover lesser-known composers and their splendid works: Fischer and Kusser, bridges to French music; Pez and his Concerto Pastorale, which looks toward Italy; and the Overture by Johann Ludwig Bach, the admired elder of his illustrious cousin.
