Hallelujah!

Description

After seeing and reading his name in the credits of other people's records, we had almost forgotten about the singer Frédéric Lo. Eighteen (18!) years after his second album (Les Anges de verre, 2000), the Rodez native finally decided to release his third. Hence this title, a liberation and a nod to the immense Leonard Cohen: Hallelujah! Over all these years, Frédéric Lo has accumulated compositions, finding inspired lyricist friends through his many collaborations, which give the album a natural flow, as if the eleven tracks flowed effortlessly and seamlessly, regardless of the invited performer or musician. This third album thus oscillates between pop songs and shimmering ballads, which highlight Frédéric Lo's unparalleled melodic talent as much as his deep, familiar voice. A multi-instrumentalist, he nevertheless surrounds himself with some heavyweights: drummer Philippe Entressangle (Étienne Daho, Miossec, Cali), guitarist François Poggio (Étienne Daho, Lou Doillon, Florent Marchet), bassist Nicolas Fiszman (Benjamin Biolay, Jacques Higelin, Vanessa Paradis), not to mention the sought-after François Delabrière (Daniel Darc, Marc Lavoine, Alain Chamfort) for the mixing of Hallelujah! Listening to the album, one is indeed impressed by the combination of talents gathered without ever altering Frédéric Lo's message or evocative power, who delivers the best record of his career. "It took me a while," he admits with a broad smile, "but I saw through what I wanted to achieve..." Hallelujah!, then.
