THE DOUBLE BASSIST ANDER GARCIA (BILBAO, 1978), BASED IN MADRID, PRESENTS HIS NEW MUSICAL PROJECT, 'AMAHIRU'. WITH THREE PREVIOUS ALBUMS AS A LEADER, GARCIA IS WITHOUT A DOUBT ONE OF THE MOST ACTIVE DOUBLE BASSISTS IN THE JAZZ SCENE AND ONE OF THE MOST PROMINENT BASQUE MUSICIANS. 'Amahiru' is the result of the musical collaboration between Frédéric Leclercq (Kreator, Sinsaenum, DragonForce) and Saki (Mary's Blood) following their meeting in 2015, when Mary's Blood opened for DragonForce in Hong Kong. Their collaboration only took shape in March 2019 when the album was finalized. Amahiru is not just a simple blend of the sounds of DragonForce and Mary's Blood; their musical similarities allowed the group to quickly find its way on this first album, which thus serves as an introduction to their unique sound. Although it is categorized as "Metal," the Eastern elements brought by Saki, including the Shakuhachi (traditional Japanese wooden instrument played by virtuoso Kifu Mitsuhashi), add an exotic touch to the world of Amahiru, and this first self-titled album sets the bar very high for future albums by Amahiru.
