He embarks on a complete set of the Nocturnes, the pinnacle of Chopin's poetry. These 21 miniatures accompany Chopin for a good part of his life, as he composed them between 1827 and 1848. Homages to Italian Belcanto, the Nocturnes express daydreaming but also the complexity of feelings and a depth that goes well beyond the apparent simplicity of these pieces. Nelson Goerner's sense of melody and tempo shines in these pages, which he recorded in the ideal setting of the Salle de Musique de La Chaux de Fonds in Switzerland.
