MCARTHUR

Description

Berlin-based composer and singer FRANKIE, also known as Franziska Aigner, and Dominican-American producer Kelman Duran met in early spring 2022 at the Church of the Twelve Apostles in Berlin's Schoneberg district. Their chance encounter opened the door to a multi-year collaboration that culminated in *McArthur*, their first joint album. After a period of remotely exchanging musical fragments and ideas, Aigner and Duran met in Athens and then in Los Angeles to prepare the album's content and material, developing a body of work inspired by shared obsessions. Aigner describes her process as writing "in the negative space" of Duran's beats, filling in or even energizing their rhythms and inflections without rearranging the integrity of the whole.
