Françoise Hardy has never hidden her disillusionment with her first and unalterable hit, “Tous les garçons et les filles,” which she finds corny. However, it gives its title to this landmark album of an extraordinary career marked by integrity and beauty, spanning over fifty years. As was customary at the time, the album is a compilation of Super 45s, which she alone from her generation writes and composes, with the exception of an adaptation of Jil and Jan's “Oh Oh Chéri,” and “Temps de l’amour,” credited to Dutronc and Lucien Morisse. Winner of the Grand Prix du disque from the Charles Cros Academy in 1963, this album, released at the height of the yé-yé wave, easily stands out due to the silky softness of the voice and interpretation, and especially the indefinable yet constant charm of these romantic little songs with pastel innocence, though always shrouded in the mists of doubt.
