Description

François Virot is a hyperactive musician from Lyon. Precocious, François resembles one of those little miracles of the internet generation who have tried everything and experienced so much that by the age of 20, they are already old sages. Learning to play guitar at a young age to imitate Kurt Cobain, Prong, and Brian Adams, discovering Jesus Lizard, The Melvins, and Sonic Youth (“but I didn't like Sonic Youth too much”) two years later, forming his first crust punk band (les Casseroles Brûlées, influenced by The Ex) at twelve.
In addition to making music alone, guitar on his knees, he plays (very loudly) drums with his brother Charles in a ballistic pop noise trio called Clara Clara, invents marvelous side projects (among others Sea Ahoma, two drums and a guitar) and spends most of his time on the road levitating audiences in the depths of basements and selling one of his 17,839 demos, wrapped and taped by hand for the occasion. And the next day, he hits the road, to Canada, Germany, down the street from you, records some covers of Jay-Z or Jobim, sees his reflection in a campfire, and finishes his first official album almost simultaneously.
Released in 2008, 'Yes or No' the first solo album by François Virot made an impression and touched hearts. This record is unlike anything known in our regions with its rough and creaking folk, both joyful and hyper melancholic, its acoustic swell of hands clapping, makeshift percussion, and battered guitar strings. This end of the year marks the official grand return with the release of Marginal posts, a new album after some demos released here and there on the internet that already hinted at the best for what’s to come.
