Prokofiev was not only an immense composer but also a fine pedagogue, which gives us many piano pieces for children and above all the essential "Peter and the Wolf" where each character « is » an instrument.
It is this intimate personalization of the « instrument - character » that led Pierre Charial to create a « chamber music » version of this symphonic tale. Moreover, the deliberate choice of the barrel organ, which expresses the character of Peter, is no accident; indeed, which of the barrel organ or Peter is the more mischievous, clever, or rebellious? Our 2 narrators, François Morel and Olivier Saladin, heroes of the small screen and of school playgrounds, overlay the original version with a playful, even delirious game that Alfred Jarry, Eugène Ionesco or Lewis Caroll would not have disowned.
