When Francis Lung (skater and former bassist of the Wu-Lyf collective) describes his album as that of a little Mancunian trying to spark a Beatlemania, he is not far from the truth. His debut album A Dream Is U is kaleidoscopic in influences while remaining beautifully enigmatic. It showcases the sound of a multi-instrumentalist weaving all his influences into a coherent and very promising album. Touching on universal themes of addiction, faith, and love in all its confusion, A Dream Is U is a collection of characters and stories straight out of Harvey Pekar's comics. With bursts of color and an ever-present smile, Francis Lung has crafted a debut album at the crossroads of acceptance and the exuberant aspiration to always do more. This album is like a waking dream, stepping out of the everyday as a shadow would leave the dancing bodies that trap it, finally waltzing to its own rhythm.
