After 60 years of a career that began in the Paris cabarets of the Left Bank, Francesca has decided to re-record the treasures that have marked her life as an artist. Surrounded by her longtime team, Francesca gives new life to the lyrics of Allain Leprest, Louis Aragon, Pierre Mac Orlan, Léo Ferré, and also her friend Jean Ferrat. Trained in classical singing by Marya Freund, in 1959 Francesca Solleville’s career took a new direction, that of chanson. For the first time, she sang before Louis Aragon, at the Mutualité in Paris. There she also met Léo Ferré, who would entrust her with his songs the very next day. It was the beginning of a journey in which poetic and political commitments were never denied. In thirteen tracks reorchestrated and rerecorded for the occasion, Les treize coups de minuit retraces sixty years of unwavering standards. Thirteen strikes. Thirteen works by poets.
