Hikarigasashikomu

Description

For the first time in his discography, Foodman places his own voice at the center of Hikarigasashikomu, an album released in 2026 on Hyperdub. Traditional Japanese nursery rhymes, live-recorded lyrics, vocal loops, and digital treatments become here integral elements of composition, just like the dislocated percussion that characterizes his work. Conceived after a period of introspection, the record retains the fragmented rhythms borrowing from both footwork and ghetto house or baile funk, while giving more importance to melodic lines and singing. This work reveals another facet of Foodman's writing, without breaking away from the sound explorations that have gradually shaped his identity within the label's catalog.
