Recorded live during a series of duo concerts at La Manufacture à chanson, Le grand blond et l'accordéoniste is Florent Richard’s fourth album. There he reunites with one of the great master musicians and arrangers of French chanson, accordionist Roland Romanelli, who was Barbara’s accompanist... The first single, Madeleine, is already on the airwaves. Trained as a cellist, Florent Richard was, during the early years of his musical career, a diligent and respected accompanist. He began as a double bassist in the musical L'Air de Paris, with Patrick Dupont, under the direction of Roland Romanelli. He then cut loose in Paris clubs as part of various jazz and electro-jazz groups, such as Blast, before becoming the bassist for the group Les Elles. A talented multi-instrumentalist, Florent Richard spends more and more time seated at his piano and becomes the performer of his own compositions. Melancholic ballads, catchy tunes, unapologetic cheekiness, Gainsbourg and Sheller are never far away. Florent Richard, behind his piano, offers with his beautiful deep voice a poetic and offbeat world with an air of effortless ease.
