A Touch of Magic A Drop of Pop
Description
"Les sextoys", a French title that evokes both Jad Wio and Elmer Food Beat, could well make this Avignon band explode. This song is a slightly catchy commercial gem but truly addictive within an album of fourteen tracks. A second French-language track, "En équilibre instable", proves more anecdotal, but the return to English naturally asserts itself. Logical, as singer-guitarist Julien worked at a record store in England. So we discover a more Brit-pop facet, marked by the sunny music of The Kings, exemplified by the hit-like "Life in the artic". The album is packed with catchy and sweet tracks, all enhanced by numerous instruments. The use of acoustic guitar or a cello further diversifies the content. "Real cool pop" said their first EP, some tracks of which are reprised here. There is indeed a lot of that, with a sprinkling of glam (the excellent "Bye bye beautiful day") in both look and sound.
