Description

Fiona Monbet, a Franco-Irish violinist, was born in Paris in 1989. She graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, in the class of Alexis Galpérine and Ami Flammer, from the Didier Lockwood Music Center (CMDL), and from the Lille Conservatory in conducting. Propelled by DIDIER LOCKWOOD into the world of improvisation and contemporary music, Fiona now collaborates with numerous artists from diverse backgrounds such as BIRÉLI LAGRÈNE, PATRICIA PETIBON, PIERRE CUSSAC, VLADIMIR COSMA, and the director TONY GATLIF, for whom she contributed to the creation of the soundtracks for three films (IndignezVous, Les Indignés, Géronimo). In January 2018, Fiona joined the musical direction of the Miroirs Étendus company alongside her chamber music partner, pianist Romain Louveau, and created the Miroirs Étendus ensemble composed of fifteen musicians. Since September 2020, she has been in residence at the ORCHESTRE NATIONAL DE BRETAGNE, which she conducts in France (Festival Interceltique, Opéra de Rennes, Théâtre National de Bretagne, Festival de St Denis). In 2022, she will conduct Michael Gallen's opera Elsewhere (Abbey Theatre, Dublin). She will also make her debut with the Orchestre national de Bordeaux Aquitaine, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, as well as the Opéra and Orchestre National de Montpellier Occitanie.
