The Los Angeles/San Francisco-based band has been a pillar of indie shoegaze since its formation in 2001. After two decades and a handful of lineup changes, their extensive discography showcases lush psychedelic rock with a dynamic texture, featuring appearances from members of Pavement, My Bloody Valentine, and Snow Patrol, among others. The 2021 album We Weren't Here (Sonic Ritual) was praised for its instrumental density, where relentless hi-hats and booming bass drums coexist with dreamy drone guitars. This propulsive nature permeates their seventh album Field, where the band crafts a kaleidoscopic soundscape.
