Track 2

Description

Between ice and light, Quatuor Novo travels the world and through time: with a world premiere by Missy Mazzoli! From Næstved to Middelfart, from Svalbard to Brooklyn: Quatuor NOVO charts its path across geographies and eras. For Track 2, the four Danish musicians, winners of the 2023 Geneva Competition, bring together Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 2, a Romantic masterpiece that holds a very special place in the group’s history, Nielsen’s String Quartet No. 2 in F minor, of fierce energy and vertiginous modulations, and Harp and Altar by Missy Mazzoli, recorded here for the first time. An album born in the Far North, between ice and light, confirming the singularity of a quartet already awarded prizes and fully committed to its own story.
