"'Child of Rock' was the headline in Libération in October 2020 when Feldup's twilight album 'A Thousand Doors, Just One Key' was released. Behind this pseudonym was Félix Dupuis. He was just 18 years old and spent most of his time feeding his YouTube channel (it then had 120,000 subscribers; today it brings together more than 1.2 million people). His new album, 'Stared at from a Distance' (released November 10, 2023), is much more than a simple collection of songs. Entirely conceived by Feldup, it is an outlet of rare density ('Death of an Illusion' shattering climax), born from the need to put his terrible emotional distress and the deep trauma he experienced in recent years on paper. 'Writing has always been necessary for me; it allowed me to divert my thoughts and give meaning to the awful things that were happening to me.' The album takes shape, in pain. It oscillates for a while between ambient tracks and noisy compositions before settling into a rock register. 'Songs suddenly started to take shape when I stopped forcing myself to write about something else or sugarcoating my experience.' It must be said that Feldup once again shows astonishing mastery. While musical influences are still strong (the alternative scene of the 90s, the revival of New York rock of the 2000s), Félix Dupuis gains even more in maturity. Originally from Franche-Comté, now living near Paris to study sound engineering, he embraced the internet from a young age. The vast network became a tool for him to acquire skills, develop new abilities, and combine education with recreation. Through digital interconnections, he created a YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/feldup) which currently has over 1.2 million subscribers. On it, he develops a world of "alternate reality game" (ARG), a concept considered a narrative immersion using the real world as a medium for creating a fictional scenario.
