Fat Freddy's Drop has made a big splash with their new studio album SLO MO, an explosion of bass, redemption, and resolution. Described by Fitchie as "soulful afro rhythmic music, an exploration of black music from Polynesia," this intoxicating blend creates the indefinable Freddy's. Renowned worldwide for their euphoric concerts, the Aotearoa (New Zealand) band entered their BAYS studio in Wellington, from sunrise to sunset, to create a sixth studio album.
"SLO MO is the strongest studio representation to date of a Freddy's concert," says Chopper Reeds. "Usually, we bring the stage to the studio, and this time, we are excited to bring our studio creation to the stage."
With nine tracks, SLO MO will first be released on double vinyl, paving the way for the creation of a new album.
The evocative cover art is the work of Dan Tippett, a New Zealand artist from Aotearoa, who describes the image as "an ancient ngahere forest in a region of New Zealand."
