A Love You Cannot Shake is Fashion Club’s second self-produced album. Fashion Club is the project of Pascal Stevenson (she/they), founding member of Moaning (Sub Pop) on bass and synth. Musically, A Love You Cannot Shake is a liberation from expectation, as Stevenson's previous stint as bassist of post-punk band Moaning and their first album as Fashion Club, Scrutiny (2022), didn’t necessarily reflect the full range of their tastes, which include ambient, pop, classical, and dance music, nor embody their sensitive tenderness and femininity. While Pascal Stevenson handled most of the instrumentation on Scrutiny, this album is much more collaborative, with a range of guests lending strings, piano, pedal steel and much more. What’s more, this album features the country harmonies of Perfume Genius, the high-pitched coos of Jay Som, and the vaporous whispers of Julie Byrne. For fans of Perfume Genius, Fever Ray, Jay Som, Japan, Yves Tumor, Julie Byrne, Bat for Lashes
