Born Xavier Amin Dphrepaulezz, much has been said about the unique story of Fantastic Negrito - his early years growing up in an orthodox Muslim family, the failed contract with a major record label that completely turned him away from the music industry, the near-fatal car accident that permanently damaged his guitarist's hand - as well as the remarkable redemption arc that began in 2015 when he won the very first NPR Tiny Desk contest. In the years that followed, Negrito won three consecutive GRAMMY Awards for Best Contemporary Blues Album, toured with everyone from Sturgill Simpson to Chris Cornell to Bruce Springsteen, collaborated in the studio with artists like Sting and E-40, launched his own label Storefront Records, performed at Lollapalooza, WOMAD, Glastonbury, Newport Folk, Byron Bay Blues, and almost every other major festival on the map, and founded the Revolution Plantation, an urban farm aimed at educating and empowering youth.
