FANEL skillfully blends its Anglo-Saxon influences with Japanese tradition to resonate with your sensitive strings and take you elsewhere, anywhere but where you imagine. Between synthetic textures and traditional instruments, FANEL offers a unique pop sound. The songwriting of Béra, aka FANEL, plays with dancing words in English, Japanese, and French to let its ethereal melodies live. On stage, FANEL performs as a trio: Léa on drums, percussion, and backing vocals, Edouard on piano, and Béra on vocals and traditional instruments. Following their first EP The Mirror released in April 2014, featuring Nina Goern (CATS ON TREES) on piano, FANEL unveiled their first animated music video, The Monkey Song, in October 2015. The band was selected for the regional auditions of the iNOUïS du Printemps de Bourges in 2015 and 2018 and benefited from the AA program of the Avant-Mardi network (31) and the contracted support of the SMAC Lo Bolegason (81). With some notable opening acts (CATS ON TREES, AARON, LILLYWOOD AND THE PRICK, GENERAL ELEKTRIKS, MINA TINDLE) under their belt, the trio returned to the studio in December 2015. FANEL released a new 4-track EP, You And I, in April 2016. Without leaving behind the ambient and sensitive sounds of The Mirror, this new EP affirms another facet of FANEL: refreshing, pop, and decidedly sparkling. This EP is marked by the release of the music video Océan featuring contemporary dancer Yamada Yuko. You And I tells a story between you and us, like an initiatory journey where we encounter warmth and waves, and where even held back by the wind, we will reach the summit of the sacred mountain. In 2016, FANEL created a children's show in co-production with Le Métronum and the City of Toulouse; an epic intended for ages 5-9. In 2017, Bérangère Sentex immersed herself back into composition with the desire to affirm her attachment to Japan and the unique identity of this project. FANEL began a work of artistic direction with Christian Bordarier, advisor at the Paloma venue and former artistic director at Wagram Music. FANEL's first album, HUMAN, was recorded in 2018 and will be released in March 2019 on the labels YATTA! R&D and Les Jeudis du Rock. FANEL was born from the desire to share, to mix, to explore. Béra naturally connected with Japanese musicians and professionals to launch a creation project called FANEL: SHIOME, supported by the production company Cricao. A tour in Japan is planned for April 2019.
