This reissue faithfully reproduces the original 1970 version from Island Records UK in a gatefold sleeve and is pressed on high-quality 180g vinyl. After their 1969 album Liege and Leif paved the way, Fairport Convention delved into traditional music, led by the charismatic and renowned violinist Dave Swarbrick, who joined the band in 1969 after making a name for himself with Martin Carthy earlier in the decade. Singer Sandy Denny and bassist Ashley Hutchings left after Liege and Leif, and for the first time since the band's formation in 1967, there would be no female vocals on a Fairport album. Guitarists Richard Thompson and Simon Nicol take the lead vocals alongside Swarbrick, and with new bassist Dave Pegg joining drummer Dave Mattacks, the band formed Full House, released in July 1970. Picking up where its predecessor left off, and again recorded with Joe Boyd at Sound Techniques in London, the album continued the standards set by their four previous albums. Four of the seven songs on Full House were adapted from traditional folk melodies, such as Dirty Linen and Sir Patrick Spens, while among the originals, the nine-minute opus by Thompson and Swarbrick, Sloth, gave the band one of their timeless anthems. The cover sent their new role as ambassadors of the rustic by inventing a series of traditional British games that didn't really exist.
