Avec "Ilé", Fafa Ruffino signs here a 1st album, tinged with soul, jazz, blues, afrobeat and reggae, cultural and musical heritage of her native land, Africa. After taking her first steps in the jazz clubs of Cotonou, Benin, Fafa, a self-taught artist, decides to study musicology, alongside her career as an actress. Music, her first love, leads her to Paris where she meets the diaspora of African artists such as MoryKanté, Papa Wemba, Manu Dibango, the Touré Kounda, Amadou & Mariam and also the international scene like Archie Chep, Hank Jones, Rockin' Squat and Cheik Tidiane Seck, with whom she signs, as a backing vocalist or singer, discographic and stage projects. All these collaborations strengthen her mastery of the stage, allowing her to travel the world performing at renowned festivals and legendary venues. Her brother, bassist Patrick Ruffino, arranges and produces this album for which he has gathered the cream of the musical afro-sphere. Rich in her culture and roots, Fafa, a complete artist, interprets the songs she composes and writes in a rainbow of languages. Yoruba, Fon, Mina (some of the languages of Benin, Togo, Nigeria) naturally spice up her tracks. If Fafa Ruffino has made humor her philosophy, she addresses in this album societal themes that are quite important and touch her artist's soul, such as exile, nostalgia for her homeland, the condition of women and children. But the gloom is quickly caught up by her incredible optimism and her unalterable faith in humanity.
