The album "Hot Number," originally released in 1987, climbed into the top 50 of the Billboard chart. The T-Birds promoted the album on a US tour with Crosby, Stills & Nash. It was the band's second album under their new contract with Sony Records. Once again, it was produced by Dave Edmunds, who also played guitar and sang on the tracks. Recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis, the album brought together Kim Wilson, Jimmie Vaughan, Preston Hubbard, and Fran Christina, with Dave Edmunds on guitar and vocals, Chuck Leavell on keyboards, and the Memphis Horns adding their unique touch. One critic described it as "sweaty, grimy bar rock 'n' soul." This reissue is part of the eight vinyl editions (blue) planned for 2026, compiling the band's complete studio recordings with Jimmie Vaughan on guitar before his departure for a solo career.
