From their beginnings nearly twenty-five years ago, at the dawn of their group identity, the musicians were already expressing their disgust at pollution. With Maps, this fifth album, their aversion transforms, erudite and anxious into eco-anxiety.
Children of the album format, they imagine a Side A that begins with a terrible observation: the future of the planet is in serious danger! Change, a manifesto that Everything will change because nothing changes! Then a Side B that ends with a farewell to Europe. Good Bye Europe, a pre-breakup song between England and Europe, visionary as it was written long before Brexit! Songs in French and English, accustomed to humor nourished by contrasts and second degree.
And the journey doesn't stop there, we also head to Italy. Torino, a romantic road trip adopted for the new season of Emily In Paris.
But the common thread of this new album remains the anxiety of a world that is destroying itself, unaware of its excesses. Change, Rien Appris, Silence & Hyperacusis, are all titles that ring the alarm bells of ecological awareness. Between irony, indie pop, and anxiety, Maps paints a chaotic vision of today's world. »
