Funny Cos It's True

Description

Everyone Says Hi is back with their second album, Funny Cos It''s True - an alternative record with catchy melodies and an irresistible groove, continuing the success of their critically acclaimed self-titled debut. The title says it all: the songs are sincere, personal and authentic, driven by singer and songwriter Nick Hodgson''s sharp wit and his gift for punchy choruses. Funny Cos It''s True offers eleven tracks of intoxicating indie-pop. Following the success of their self-titled debut album in 2024, this new release marks the band''s growing confidence in their style. Infused with a hazy retro feel while retaining a decidedly modern sound, the album sees the band rediscover and reinvent a classic sound through irresistibly catchy choruses and a clear talent for polished songwriting. Lyrically, the album explores deep themes and resonates profoundly, with songs written from the perspective of a father speaking to his young daughter, and also from that of a son, following the death of his own father from Alzheimer''s disease. Musically, the band moves within a refined retro-futuristic universe: classic textures and a warm psych-pop sound. It draws on influences from Steely Dan, R.E.M. and Arcade Fire, with the modernity of alternative rock bands like The War On Drugs and Tame Impala, but always with melody at the forefront.
