Description

Emiliano Maggi is an Italian artist who performs under the name Rome and releases his musical adventures under the pseudonym Estasy, particularly this first album, "Wild Songs." First and foremost, it is Maggi's surprising soprano voice that strikes us, expressing romanticism and a fascination with death, sometimes in minimalist solitude, sometimes buried under numerous ghostly vocal re-recordings, accompanied by a guitar or ukulele. Recorded outdoors, amidst fields or woods, the sounds of nature are present, natural or synthetic, raw or synthesized. One can hear the Nordic folk tradition of a group like Dvergmål, the otherworldly sounds offered by Sigur Rós, and the proto-gothic expression of Nico's trilogy (The Marble Index, The End, Desertshore).
