Emiliano Maggi is an Italian artist who performs under the name Rome and signs his musical adventures with the pseudonym Estasy, especially this first album, "Wild Songs". First of all, it is Maggi’s surprising soprano voice that strikes us and expresses romanticism and a fascination with death, sometimes in minimalist solitude, sometimes buried under numerous ghostly vocal re-recordings, accompanied by a guitar or a ukulele. Recorded outdoors, in the middle of fields or woods, the sounds of nature are present, natural or synthetic, raw or synthesized. One can hear the tradition of Nordic folk from a group such as Dvergmål, the otherworldly sounds offered by Sigur Rós, and the protogothic expression of Nico’s trilogy (The Marble Index, The End, Desertshore).
