Erwan Keravec is a bagpipe player, composer, improviser, and performer. Active since the 1990s, he is a unique figure in the French musical landscape, between traditional Breton music and contemporary creation. Erwan Keravec gradually diverts the bagpipe from its traditional use in order to explore the entire range of peripheral sounds that this millennia-old instrument, existing everywhere and in an infinite variety of forms, can produce: clusters, differentials, strikes, frictions, drones, taking advantage of its ability to emit continuous sounds, drones. The music of Erwan Keravec evokes Eliane Radigue, Pauline Oliveros, Nurse With Wound... "Whitewater" is an album that has been in the making for several years, a work of maturity for Erwan Keravec, who has devoted a lot of energy to developing his ensemble projects since 2010. For the player and composer, it marks a return to a more intimate personal practice of the instrument, a form of meditative and experimental research. "Whitewater" is a rich and poetic album.
