Singer, percussionist, activist, Erick Cosaque has worked to defend and spread the rhythms and tradition of Gwo ka in the Caribbean as well as in mainland France. His work is now being rediscovered by many music lovers around the world. Erick Cosaque is one of the central figures of Gwo ka, while managing to remain outside any institutional framework – no label, no federation, no funding. He has been one of the strongest voices of this music since the dawn of the 70s, but he also restores its rebellious and spontaneous spirit in an artistic practice that spans from the vinyl age to the digital era.
