Bookends

Description

The album "The Bookends" by Eric Gales, released in 2019, is reissued on dark green vinyl by Artone Label Group/Provogue. It features collaborations with B. Slade and Provogue artists Doyle Bramhall II and Beth Hart. For "The Bookends," Gales wanted to push himself. "As a guitarist, I know how to play a little, but not really," he says with a smile. But for this album, he wanted to push his limits, not only as a musician but also as a singer, in order to expand his vocal discography. "What motivated this approach were the artists on the album," he explains. Composed over a period of nine months, the album was recorded at Studio Delux in Van Nuys (California), at Dog House in Woodland Hills (California), and at Blakeslee Recording in North Hollywood (California). The day before he left for Los Angeles for pre-production, the initial producer, David Bianco, tragically passed away. It was then that Bianco's manager suggested Matt Wallace. "I had heard about his work and the artists he has produced, like Maroon 5, Faith No More, and all those bands. When we met, it was simply perfect. I trusted him, and it was great. I love Matt Wallace," Gales says.
