Endless Boogie was formed in the mid-90s in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. For years, the band was content to be a rehearsal group, a reason to get Paul Major, a rare record seller, out of his house. They began to make a name for themselves by opening for Stephen Malkmus (Pavement) at the Bowery Ballroom in 2001. After two self-produced albums, they released their first true album, Focus Level, in 2008. Endless Boogie is back this time with a fifth studio album titled Admonitions. Seven tracks, mostly recorded improvisationally over a two-year period through several sessions, which took the band to the pastoral tranquility of the inner archipelago of Svartsjö near Stockholm (in the studio founded by Jacob Sjöholm of Trad, Gras, Och Stenar) in 2018, to the damp and cramped basement of a studio in Fort Greene, Brooklyn in 2020, and to Llano, Texas. Jesper Eklow (guitar) leads the way, Matt Sweeney (guitar) adds a touch of stealthy glamour, the chiaroscuro of Paul Major (guitar, vocals) is, as always, in the spotlight, the ferocity of Mike Bones (bass) is crucial, and the stoic solidity of Harry Druzd (drums) supports it all. Their old friend Kurt Vile also appears on the track "Counterfeiter." Perfectly oiled and delivered with simplicity, the band's magic recipe, which simply aims to immerse listeners in their sound, works effectively.
