Description

EN GRAMMA ("ène gramma") is a Transe Rock trio formed in 2021 and based in Rennes. Derived from Ancient Greek, its name evokes the mark that memory leaves on us through time. The trio plays a powerful blend of afro-Dionysian blues and acoustic rock, while singing in three languages (French, English and Ancient Greek). Beau Brûlis is their first album. It is a collection of stories, rooted in mystery and told through warm vocal melodies and driving tribal rhythms. EN GRAMMA is a unique and musically eclectic band, occupying the space between the primitive and the modern, the acoustic and the electric. EN GRAMMA is made up of singer Gautier Degandt, who has toured across Europe with his hard-folk duo BÂTON BLEU (Dixiefrog records/ PIAS), afro/rock guitarist Oscar Philéas (MAMADOU KOITA), and percussionist Pierre-Yves Dubois. The album: BEAU BRÛLIS explores the theme of renewal, of life after destruction. The brûlis in the title refers to “slash-and-burn agriculture,” an agricultural technique in which the ground is burned to fertilize it. It is a beautiful story of rebirth.
