He made a strong comeback in 2009 with Relapse (#1 in France and double platinum in the USA), and he had promised Relapse 2, but the dirty little perfectionist that Eminem is spent so much time in the studio that he changed his mind. A radical change because after rapping on albums entirely produced by Dr Dre and himself, Slim Shady renewed his approach to music and enlisted the services of the cream of current producers. Thus, none other than Just Blaze (Jay-Z), DJ Khalil (50 Cent), Jim Jonsin (T.I.), Mr Porter (D-12), and Havoc (Mobb Deep) contributed to shaping the sound of this new album. The now titled Recovery will therefore be released on June 21, and today Eminem drops the first single "Not Afraid." In stark contrast to a "We Made You" that is as silly as a high school prank, "Not Afraid" reveals a new side of Eminem, that of a rapper in love with his art, motivated by the desire to make the best music possible. Aware that he had been going in circles lately, Eminem questioned himself and delivers a track that few believed he was capable of. He rides the heavy production of Boi-1da (producer of the sensation Drake) and even allows himself to sing a chorus destined to lift the crowds.
