On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of her first album, Emilie Simon returns to the roots of her music with her new album ES, a complete rework of the ladybug album, including the single "Désert".
"My next album is also my first. Yet it is my 7th." It is with this riddle that Emilie Simon presents ES, her new record accompanied by a unique live creation alone on stage.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of her first album, and before the release of her new opus currently in production between France and the United States, Émilie has prepared a new version of the ladybug album that she has completely reproduced, rearranged, bringing a different light to the songs while preserving their DNA. A first in this area, as if this cult album was getting a makeover while keeping the modernity that made it unique in the early 2000s: "It's a mirror game, 20 years later. A before / after. The rule was: if I had written these titles today, how would they sound? I allowed myself everything, as long as I kept their essence and the same order as on the original record. I changed the tonalities, the tempos, the harmonies, the structures, the arrangements, and sometimes even the melodies. I felt free and had a lot of fun. It's also a way for me to return to my roots, my core, to celebrate it while radically taking it into my sound today. ES links my past and my future. I renamed this eponymous album ES, because it is my rediscovered essence and also the first stone for the projects that will follow it. The loop is closed, it's a new beginning. It's also a desire to reconnect with my audience through these songs that for some were our first exchange, while inviting them to discover my new titles still in preparation.
