La chanteuse et auteur-compositeur tunisienne Emel Mathlouthi revient avec une œuvre puissante et épique, à la croisée des cultures et des genres. « A new committed and poetic album where Arab influences merge with powerful beats and heartbreaking melodies. » FiP Emel became known when her song 'Kelmti Horra (My Word Is Free)' from 2012 became an anthem during the Arab Spring, earning her the title of "voice of the Tunisian revolution," and then an invitation to perform during the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in 2015. Her sincere and powerful music defies genres, blending electronic, Tunisian textures, and cinematic universes. Combining the political and the personal, Emel, driven by her exceptionally expressive voice and wide range, expresses her feelings but also those of many people. « It is important for me to give a voice to those who are not heard. And I believe that art is its own message, and that especially when you come from a repressive or ignored area, the simplest act of saying "Hey, I am here" is important - the art of presence and assertion. » On this second album, 'Ensen', Emel distills her electronic and acoustic music into a style that is distinctly her own, citing Ben Frost, Samaris, and James Blake as artistic influences. With several producers, including Valgeir Sigurðsson (Sigur Rós, Feist) and her main collaborator Franco-Tunisian Amine Metani, Emel recorded her new album in seven countries and two continents.
