One year before the tragic death of the King, Elvis recorded a few songs in the recording studio set up in his famous mansion, Graceland. In the end, ten songs were found on this record, which would turn out to be the second-to-last studio recording he would make before tragically passing away far too early in 1977. It became Presley's fourth album to reach #1 on the Billboard country album sales chart in four years and includes "Hurt," a top 10 hit on the country and adult contemporary charts. On October 10, 1977, the album was certified gold by the RIAA after surpassing 500,000 sales.
