The historical significance of Presley's work recorded at Stax studios is recognized by music experts such as Peter Guralnick, author of the biographies "Last Train to Memphis: The Rise of Elvis Presley" (1994) and "Careless Love: The Unmaking of Elvis Presley" (1999), or producer Ernst Mikael Jørgensen, a respected director of Elvis's RCA catalog for over twenty years and author of the essential and incredibly documented guide "Elvis Presley: A Life In Music" (St. Martin's Press, 1998). Ernst Mikael Jørgensen had long been concerned with giving justice to the Stax Sessions, which had never before been recognized by RCA, the artist's label, as a unified whole. Elvis Presley spent 12 days at Stax in 1973 (from July 21 to 25 and from December 10 to 16) and the rollercoaster of these recording sessions is meticulously detailed in the text of the booklet signed by Robert Gordon.
