My Aim Is True is Elvis Costello's debut album. Recorded in London during 1976, it was done in late-night sessions totaling twenty-four hours. It was the first of five studio albums produced by Nick Lowe. The cover features rows of small black and white squares (surrounding the photo of Costello) with the words "Elvis Is King" written on them. Costello's pose on the cover would become an iconic look for him, with Buddy Holly-style glasses and knees bent inward. Due to contractual difficulties, the musicians who participated in the recording were not credited upon the album's release. The band accompanying Costello was made up of members of the group Clover, which included Huey Lewis (although he did not participate in the album's recording), who would later achieve fame with the band The News.
