The Ballad of the Runaway Girl

Description

The first album available in France by the Pop-Folk star from the Arctic. Canadian Inuit singer Elisapie Isaac releases her third album (but the first distributed on this side of the Atlantic), the beautiful "The Ballad of the Runaway Girl." Her pastoral folk draws inspiration from traditional Inuit music and an arid blues. The filmmaker, singer, and activist also understood that a good song can only be written with raw emotion. This album therefore lifts us to emotional heights with the moving "Don't Make Me Blue," plunges us into depths of despair with "The Ballad of the Runaway Girl" or "Rodeo," until we see the light again with "Una" or the sublime "Darkness Bring the Light" (composed with Joseph Yarmush, the guitarist of the excellent Suuns). But Elisapie also knows how to show her teeth. The vibrant "Arnaq" and its growling guitars remind men that women make up half of humanity, and the edgy "Call Of The Moose" refuses to forget the disasters caused by the oppression of white men on the Inuit community.
