Dance of Time was recorded in Brazil; thematically, this new album is however very different from the previous one: while Made in Brazil was a vibrant tribute to three generations of Brazilian composers, Dance of Time addresses much more varied themes. Accompanied by guests as prestigious as pianist Amilton Godoy, guitarists and singers João Bosco and Toquinho, trumpeter Randy Brecker, vibraphonist Mike Mainieri, and singer Mark Kibble, Eliane Elias pays tribute to the people who accompanied her in her early days, both in Brazil and the United States. While last year we celebrated the centenary of Pelo Telefone, the first samba ever recorded, Dance of Time is a love letter to this musical style which, although its roots are African, remains closely associated with the city of Bahia. "Samba is both the most authentic and the most irresistible of Brazilian music. It is hard to imagine a better place in the world than Brazil to try to capture the essence of this music. I absolutely had to be there to be able to record Dance of Time."
