Laurent Collat is not a newcomer on the French electronic scene. It was in 1988, with the discovery of New Order, that the desire to compose his own tracks began to emerge. His techno-pop compositions gently drift towards a house and techno sound, with the arrival of the Manchester baggy movement and the acid-house wave. In 1992, a pivotal year, pop was sidelined in favor of technology. Between 92 and 95, Laurent worked in various fields, but always with a single goal: to make people dance and feel. And here comes Laurent Collat who joins F Communications in 1996. On his first two EPs released in 96 and 97, “From Nowhere With Love” and “Snapshots,” Elegia develops a melodic and melancholic house. A studio man, he seeks to find THE voice that would bring emotion and warmth to the compositions of a future album.
