Jean Yanne, les Charlots, Henri Salvador, Georges De Giafferi... Had he been their contemporary, there is no doubt that alongside them EL'BLASZCZYK would have shared the same bins in the record shops of the time... but that niche no longer exists... So in which drawer should this improbable oddball be filed, this artisan rocker from a bygone genre: Belgian rock, retro DIY multitrack, rockbides & roll, garage schlock? Let us leave the musicologists to the absurdity of their obsessive classifications, let go and simply, spontaneously, give ourselves over to the primal listening of this original creation. Apple had not yet invented the machine for making music on computers. "Garage Band" then referred only to a category of youthful 60s-inspired groups, so named because of their tendency to rehearse in basements, verandas and other garden sheds at mum and dad's place. EL'BLASZCZYK, for his part, truly embodied both approaches in the very first degree of the genre. GARAGE: because he often set up his "recording setup" there (a large, easily available and adaptable space). BAND: because with his multitrack jumble, capable of tinkering with everything himself, he invented one all on his own (Rock Band Himself).
