Hogar is the new album by El Búho, the project of British producer Robin Perkins. Known for his fusion of Latin American folk, organic electro, dub, field recordings, and natural sounds, El Búho explores these influences through the prism of home. While Hogar means "home" in Spanish, this word transcends the simple notion of a physical place. Derived from the Latin focaris, which means hearth or fire, hogar evokes family, belonging, shelter, intimacy, and the feeling of security, somewhere in the world. For Robin, this album was born from the experience of building a home with his family in France, and it was also inspired by themes of migration, uprooting, and the climate crisis. It is a meditation on the meaning of home in a world where so many people are forced to leave theirs, to build a home elsewhere, or to seek belonging. The album revolves around a series of found sounds, recordings of Robin's daily life, travels, islands, gatherings with friends over a meal or tea. Each track rests on a texture that anchors it in a place or a memory. Hogar reflects the maturity and depth of El Búho's sound, merging Latin American music, sound textures, electro, and found sounds in a new and touching way.
