Plays "High Gospel" is the first solo album from GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR co-founder, THEE SILVER MT ZION leader, and VIC CHESNUTT BAND member (2007-2009); Efrim Manuel Menuck. This debut album, recorded by Menuck himself with the help of friends (David Payant - SMZ - Drums), Jessica Moss (SMZ - Violin), and Katie Moore on vocals, is the result of several months of recordings across Montreal. With its eight tracks, the album allows us to discover new facets of the singer-guitarist, such as his taste for electronic music, as heard in "A 12-pt. Program for keep on keepin'on," or for very stripped-down blues melodies. Far from being a self-indulgent experimental interlude, this record will appeal to both fans of Constellation Records' historical bands and curious listeners of all kinds.
