Resting confidential for over forty years, Burnt Offerings exhumes the only demo recorded in 1983 by Effigy, a band from Aylesbury that never had the chance to officially release its compositions at the time. Blending post-punk, gothic rock, and new wave, these five tracks reveal a band with a sound already perfectly defined, driven by a magnetic female voice and melodies reminiscent of both Siouxsie and the Banshees and X-Mal Deutschland. This reissue from Sealed Records enriches this precious testimony with previously unreleased archives, lyrics, and a new interview with the band, finally offering the recognition deserved to this forgotten gem of the British scene of the 1980s.
